“All Aboard” as New Officers are Sworn In

Orange Sunrise celebrated a successful year of service and inducted new officers at a champagne brunch at Orange Hill Restaurant on June 28th.  Incoming Assistant Governor Ken Caplin (RC Orange North) attended with his friend Kathy and Orange Sunrise members brought family and friends to enjoy the “all you can eat” seafood buffet.

Acting 2008-09 President John Bouyer reviewed the club’s accomplishments before presenting service awards to the committee chairs.  John also presented Joe Colombo and Howard Glasser with perfect attendance pins (2 years and 8 years).

Rae Shirer was inducted as “Captain” (President) of the Orange Sunrise ship, with John Bouyer taking the helm as “First Mate” (Past President).  Tracey Curtis agreed to keep the ship’s log as Secretary and Joe Colombo took on the role of Purser (Treasurer), a job he learned in the U.S. Navy.  Jack Sappington was drafted as Navigator (Director at Large) despite his refusals and threats to go AWOL.  PDG Grant Engle conducted the induction “ceremony”.  New prez Rae then presented new pins to committee chairs and officers.  For her own service to the club, Rae received a paper hat and a bottle of “Two Buck Chuck”.  Oddly, these same items were already in the back seat of her car.
