Rotary Days with the Angels Raises Thousands for the Rotary Foundation

Local Rotarians sold more than 1,100 tickets to the August 29th Angels baseball game, raising nearly $20,000 to End Polio Now!

Clubs in Rotary District 5320 worked together to sell the discount tickets.  In turn, the Angels organization donated one-half of each ticket price to the Rotary Foundation.  Rotarians also sold Angels baseball caps, specially embroidered with the “End Polio Now” logo.

District 5320 was joined by Rotarians from neighboring districts as well and everyone kicked off the day of fun at a tailgating party under the “Big A” in the stadium parking lot.

Orange Sunrise set up camp with a huge RV and variety of party foods and beverages.  After everyone had their fill of fun and heat (temperatures were in the high 90s!), all headed in to watch Anaheim Hills Rotarian Sterling Gary deliver a ceremonial first pitch.  Rotarians were also happy to see frequent video promotion of Rotary on the stadium’s big screens during the game.

Unfortunately, the Angels lost the game to the visiting Oakland As.  But there’s always next year – the Angels are already committed to hosting a Rotary day again during the 2010 season!
